LM34936: Can our four switch buck boost controller work in bidirection mode?

Part Number: LM34936

Hi,

my customer need 14-20V input, 12V output buck circuit designed for battery charge and discharge system.

When discharging the battery, the energy will flow from 12V to 14-20V, can our device support that?

For example, the renesas has bidirectional buck-boost controller.

  • Hi,

anybody would reply to the post?

  • Hi Howard,

I remember I answered this a few days ago, but seemingly it did not get through.  I also checked e2e yesterday and your post did not show up as "not answered".

Anyway, the answer is no.  It is a unidirectional controller, not suitable for bidirectional solutions.  You may check with the battery charging group (they have BQ products) and they may have something suitable for  your applications.

    Thanks,
