Capacity estimation error

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Hello:

I used the chip bq40z50-r1 to test the capacity of a lithium battery.

The circuit design is based on the following diagram.

My lithium battery has a capacity of 3800mAh

When I calibrate the chip with the discharge current,

For example, I used 8500mA for discharge, but read 8510mA from the chip register.

When I discharged the battery to 3%, I read the remaining 100mah from the register of the meter, but the actual battery still has a capacity of 180mAh

May I ask whether this value is feasible?

How accurate can the chip itself estimate the discharge capacity of the battery? 1%?2%?

  • The current accuracy after calibration is 1% to 1.5%. So for 8A, you can be off by 80mA. Considering that your accuracy is good.

Once you relax after dsg, RM, FCC will be updated when OCV is calculated. At that point, the error will be corrected.
