AC input 20~100V /100~330 Hz and output 12V/16A open frame solution survey

Hi Team:

Please help to  transfer to PDS team , there is a 20Vac~100Vac input / 100~330 Hz and output 12V/16A  open frame with 10~30 CFM fan that customer enquiry.

if any better topology or solution , please help to recommend , thanks.

Regards / Mark

  • Mark,

Thank you for your inquiry. What is the source, and does the solution need PFC? At ~200W of output power it would seem so.

  • Hi Ryan:

Customer also not clear source form end customer side only have  20Vac~100Vac input / 100~330 Hz and output 12V/16A this condition.

Base on output almost 200W , need PFC , I think , please help to recommend which part number is more better for this application , thanks.

    Regards / Mark

  • Mark,

If this is a PFC, then Vout has to be > of peak Vin, therefore in the range of 170Vdc...200Vdc. Boosting such low Vin voltage to almost 200V, involves low efficiency, because much losses are concentrated in the bridge. Sync rectification on the bridge will help for sure, but we don't have analog sync PFC controllers.

Recently I made a design for low voltage range (please find attached the PMP5599) but it's just a paper design (I never built a prototype) and Vin range is restricted to 36Vrms.

I hope that is anyway useful for you.

    Best regards,

    Roberto
