BQ2057W: Battery is not charging

Part Number: BQ2057W

Dear Sir,

We have designed a changing module using BQ2057WSN IC to charge a 7.4V, 6600mAH  Li-ion battery. My supply power is 12V,2A SMPS. I have set my charging current  to 600mA. The battery is charging, but a high amount of heat is generating (dissipating) through the transistor, Q1. (around 80 degree Celsius). But, we have found another issue that in some of our existing circuit, the battery is drawing only 100mA current and battery (7.4V, 6600mAH Li-ion battery) is not charging. We have checked the battery voltage and found that the battery voltage is above 6V, which means battery should not charge in trickle current mode and it should charge @600mA. We have also checked the IC and it is not short.

So, what could be the possible reasons that in some circuits the battery is not charging.?
