Hi team members.

I want to heat derate TPS1663 and use it.

When considering thermal derating during power up with a capacitive load , can I use Transient junction temperature(165℃) instead of Operating junction temperature(150℃)?

Hi,

Do you mean to use dVdT startup so that the device does not enter into thermal regulation loop during power up with a capacitive load ?

Under what conditions should I use operating junction temperature (150 ° C) and transient junction temperature (165 ° C)?

Hello,

There are two temperature set points in TPS1663: Thermal regulation T_{(J_REG)} and Thermal shutdown T_(TSD).

T_{(J_REG)}is the junction temperature regulated by device at start-up if the device goes into thermal regulation due to large inrush current at start-up

T_(TSD) is the junction temperature at which the device goes into shutdown due to excessive power dissipation during over load or over current condition.

For thermal calculations after power up or start-up, T_(TSD) should be used.
