BQ34Z100-G1: no learning cycle plugin available in bqStudio / issues with ChemID programming

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, , BQ27541-G1, BQ34Z100

Hello all,

I am currently setting up the bq34z100-G1 for gas gauging of a LiFePo4 battery pack. When programming the ChemID with bqStudio 1.3.86, I see the below warning message. Can you please let me know what needs to be done?

Furthermore, I don't see any controls for the manual/automatic learning cycle (as it is available for bq27541-G1 for example). Is there a way to perform the auto-cycle for the bq34z100 as well?

Thanks & best regards,

Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Please check if your fw version for the bq34z100-g1 is v0.16. If it is not, please update to it by downloading the fw from the product page. The bqz file that comes with it in the package needs to be copied to c:\ti\batterymanagementstudio\config.

Once that is done, this warning will go away.

  • Thanks, Batt!

I verified the FW version (v0.16) and copying the bqz file to bqStudio's config folder indeed fixed the misterious warning message. Thank you!

To the second part of my question:

I noticed, that besides the learning cycle plugin also the GPC packer plugin is not availabe if the bq34z100-g1 is selected. Can you please let me know if this is intended behavior or if this is a bug which gets fixed with a future bqStudio revision?

Is there any other TI software available which I can use to automate the learning / optimization cycles?

    Thanks & best regards,

    Daniel

  • Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately the plugin is not available. It's still in internal debug as it had many issues. There is no software to automate learning cycle. But you can easily write a script to automate your sourcemeter and load to perform it for you.
