TPS25221: question regarding OCP

Part Number: TPS25221

1. If the ocp is opened, and then the load switch cutoff. How long does it take to recover to normal ?

2. if the OCP still happened ,will switch cycle on and off?

3. if apply consistent current (2.2A) on load switch, will there be any risk on the IC?

  • 1. If OCP, will current limit. First in constant current mode.  If overlaod condition long enough, will activate thermal shut down.

The time is dependant on junction temperature. As cool down to 125 degree, will restart.

    2.   Yes, long enough time will activate thermal shut down function. But if the overload current you set is very low, will not activate the thermal shut down.

    3.   Datasheet suggested 2A constant maximum current. For 2.2A, I think can work normally, but will reduce the life expectancy of IC.

For TI's policy, I will first click resolved button.
