TPS61500: Current Limit Issue

Part Number: TPS61500

Hi All,

We have chosen the TPS61500 for driving a Backlight (Vf: 9.6V and Recommended Current: 270mA), maybe we have chosen a too big IC for this job. An alternative would be more than welcome.

Anyway we bought the EVB for testing the driver and we are facing some issues:

- First we tried the EVB as it comes (500mA and 20V OVP) dimming the driver through a PWM in the EN with a duty cycle of 50%. In these conditions we are having an output of 11.5V and 700 mA.

- The we changed the Limiting Resistor to set it up to aprox 300mA, and with that Resistor changed, and the PWM with a duty cycle of 100%, and we still have those 11.5V and 700mA, so I think that I have misunderstood the current limiting.

Now we are going to change the OVP but I thought that just with the current limit would be enough, Am I wrong ? Should I change the driver ?

Thanks for your help,

Regards,
