UA79M: Negative operating temperature range

Part Number: UA79M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UA78M

Dear, support Team.

The operating temperature range of the UA79M is 0 degrees to +125 degrees.
Can not operate at negative temperature below 0 degree?
The UA78M series has an operating temperature of -40 degrees.
We well to use -voltage output and + voltage output in pairs.

Best Regards

  • Hi Hiroaki,

While this device will likely function at slightly negative temperatures but starting up at very low temperatures is the largest risk, if the device is already running when the temperature goes down it is likely to stay on. This is a +40 year old device so we don't have a way to guarantee a lower operating temperature than what is in the PDS so if you still want to use it in a cold temperature application you'll need to verify that the device meets your needs.

Otherwise choosing a different negative LDO would be the other choice. Here is a list of TI Negative LDO's that are specified down to a negative ambient temperature of at least -20C.
