TPS61169: Rset value vs efficiency

Part Number: TPS61169

Hi,

Customer is using TPS61169 and asks if the efficiency would increase or decrease if they change Rset value from 10.2ohm to 5.1ohm to 3.3ohm.  Will there be an obvious efficiency difference with these Rset values?

Or, it would depends on the WLED implementation in their circuit?  Currently they implement 10 LED in series, and the LED spec is as attached.  Please share your inputs.EAHE5630WE03.pdf

Thanks

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

When you change the Rset value, it changes the output current and total system, so it is hard to compare those data since it depends on how much current that you need and it also depends on the supply voltage.

TPS61169 is a high-efficiency boost led driver which should have a good performance on the efficiency.

From the efficiency point of view, you need to choose better inductor and diode which has small resistance and forward voltage. And it also affected by the forward voltage of the LED.

  • Hi Antony,

Is there any more question? I'd like to close this one first if you don;t have more question.
