Hi Sir,
We found the current limmit spec. of TPS74801 is 2A~.5A.
But the figure17. of Current Limit vs (VBIAS – VOUT) is show the range is around 3~3.4A in the different temperature.
Please help to explain what the CL is defined 2A~5A???

Hi Kevin,
TPS74801 is a 1.5A rated device. In order to make sure the device can source at least 1.5A in a customer's applicatin, the test has used 2A as the minimum current limit value to make sure the device meets the expection for a up to 1.5A application.
Current limit is the maximum amount of current that a LDO can source before the internal curerrnt limit loop kicks in to limit the current in order to protect the device. The min value of current limit needs to be higher than the rated current of the device. Figure 17 shows a typical characteristics of current limit values across temperatures and at different Vbais - Vout that has a typical value of 3 - 3.4A which does not violate the min and max values of this specification.
Does it make sense?
