BQ40Z60: bq40z60 actual SLEEP time is much longer than the SLEEP bus timeout setting

Part Number: BQ40Z60

We are using bq40z60 as our 2S1P battery pack GG.

In the configuration, I have set DA configuration = NR + SLEEP + 2-cell = 0x15

Also I have set Bus Timeout = 5s

However, I observed the pack goes to SLEEP mode much longer than 5s after I removed the current and pull-down both SMBud line.

Sometimes 20s, sometimes 60s, sometime 5s.

Do you know what else I need to set to ensure the actual SLEEP time is around 5s ?

Thanks,

Zane

  • There's 2 things to sleep. One is stopping comms and floating the lines, the second is seeing if there's any actual current. If you have the gauge in relaxation for 60s, it can perform autocalibration that lasts up to 20s before it goes to sleep.

Please set your sleep time to 5s, disconnect your load, float your comm lines and measure sleep time after that.
