I am performing the DS Calculations Page 27. I need all information required to perform these calculations. Below are my questions.
Reference DS Equations 30 thru 33, Page 27.
Unknown Term “K3rd”, Is this the third harmonic for 60 Hz which would be 180 Hz?
Question 1) Define the unknown term “K3rd”.
Question 2) Is “K3rd” a constant? {Yes or No} If yes, what is the constant value used.
Question 3) Is “K3rd” a variable? {yes or No} If yes:
What is the min/max value.
What are the Test Conditions used to determine these values.
Question 4) Is there any information that is required to determine the correct value of “K3rd” that I have not asked.
Unknown Term “Gmv”, Is this the value listed in DS Page 6, 5th line from bottom, (70uS)?
Question 5) Define the unknown term “Gmv”.
Question 6) Is “Gmv” a constant? {Yes or No} If yes, what is the constant value used.
Question 7) Is “Gmv” a variable? {yes or No} If yes:
What is the min/max value.
What are the Test Conditions used to determine these values.
Question 8) Is there any information that is required to determine the correct value of “Gmv” that I have not asked.
Hi Eddie:
k3rd is the third harmonic distortion percentage, so if the input is 60Hz, here is the 180Hz harmonic.
On the last paragraph on page 26 in DS there is an explain on k3rd. if you choose 1% , which means k3rd=1, the peak ripple on Vvao is 64mV.
if you want to decrease the influence of 3rd harmonic distortion, you can try to decrease k3rd to a lower percentage ,for example to k3rd=0.8, which means 0.8% .
gmv is the transconductance of amplifier. So this is constant and equal to 70uS in the datasheet in page 6.
hope this helps you.
