TPS40057: TPS40057 protection questions

Hi Support team

We use the follow OVP protection circuit, when the 5VSB rise TO OVP happen , Make the SS/SD become low level,

We want to know the 5VSB whether can work like attached 2 waveform when the 5VSB OVP protection removed?

Note:

When we test the OVP, through short the VFB PIN to let the 5VSB rise to OVP happen.

Hi Red,

After looking at the datasheet, it seems that TPS40057 does not have a built in OVP.

I could not see clearly the circuit in your schematic, but after looking at the scope waveform it looks like the circuit seem to work when the voltage reaches 6.1V and restart when it reaches 2.94V. Therefore you already have some hysteresis in your OVP circuit.

So it looks like your circuit works.

Hi Arief,

the waveform you see is NOT capture from TPS40057, it's from other vender's chip,

my customer just curious what is TPS40057 OVP behavior, do you have waveform could provide

Hi Red,

Upon looking at the datasheet for this part, i could not find information in regards to over voltage protection.

I think in this case it is better to have an external OVP circuit in order to ensure that the output voltage did not exceed your design specification.

Currently customer has external OVP circuit, the question is that the 5vsb whether can auto restart after the OVP protection remove

From the waveform after the remove the OVP, the part regulate to 5V
