BQ24232: No output on V(OUT) with V(BAT) at 3.7V

Hi,

It seems I have a few issues using the BQ24232. One of them being that when the battery is connected to V(BAT), the IC does not output anything on the V(OUT) pin. That is true with V(IN) being fed with either 0V or 5V. Despite this, I was able to confirm that the /PGOOD pin goes into low impedance when V(IN) is connected.

Please see the current schematic that I am using:

Any idea what could cause this issue?

Hello,

Please add at least 4.7uF capacitance on BAT. Can you check for shorts on the OUT pin

Hi Sharafadeen,

I added the 4.7uF capacitance on BAT and I also checked for shorts on the OUT pin.

No shorts were found and there is still no output on the OUT pin.

Any other idea? Could it be just a badly soldered BQ24232?

Hello,

It could be bad soldering. Also double check to make sure the device isn't in USB suspend mode. If the output is't powered even in BAT only ode, then i'll suggest you double check the soldering on BAT, IN and OUT.

The BQ24232 was badly soldered. After being properly soldered, it started to work.
