LM34936: Use 0402 sizes instead of Webench-design-called-for 0603 passives.

Part Number: LM34936

Youhao, and TI power forum,

another thing I notice about my LM34936 Webench design is that there are a large number of 0603 size parts (100mW resistors, and such).
These seem again to be selected for the EVM layout and aren't necessary in a lower-power application.

Is it okay to use 0402s in most of these cases? I'm guessing for the capacitors are no problem.   Are there any critical resistors that HAVE to stay 100mW and 0603 size?

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Carl Olen

  • Hi Carl,

Thank you for reaching out. Webench model references to an existing evaluation model, and large parts are easy to probe.  Generally you can use 0402s but you should also assess the power dissipation of each part to make sure it is not over stressed.  Apply any power deratings if needed.

    Thanks,
