Customer questions.
Q: With the completely exhausted battery, our application is expected to work with VBUS, with a shorter charge (say about 10 min)
[GD] With completely exhausted battery the device will be OFF. In this state USB charger cannot function. USB charger will be good only in ACTIVE state. This use case can be supported by AC charger only.
In fact USB specs do not allow this and hence we do not have the fast charge pre-charge state in this device.
Q: Whenever VBUS is available, we intended to use the same instead of consuming from battery, and also the remaining of current from VBUS can be used for charging the battery
[GD] The device was designed to supply the system. So, If charging is active then the total system current can be split. I mean if the total charging current is 1000mA and if the system requires say, 600mA then battery will be charged with 400mA.
Q: We expect the system current consumption go beyond 500mA, it can be around 1 Amp.
[GD] This is ok. The customer will have to ensure that the very first step after the boot up process should be to increase the charging current with USB charging to 1.7A
Q: The max possible value for ICHGEOC register conveys that system current can be more than 400mA, to use the BCI for charging the battery
[GD] Yes, max BCI charging current is 1.7A
