TPS40210: TPS40210

Part Number: TPS40210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM3478, LM5155, LM5022, TPS55340

Hi,

I am designing a new device, which requires an adjustable buck-boost converter. The input voltage is 24V, connected to the buck boost converter is a motor which may draw a current of 1.1A and works on an applied voltage of 0-32V. Now about 1000 pieces will be produced, so the solution should be rather cost efficient. For now I have found the gate driver LM3478 and the bit more expensive LM5022(Q1) and the TPS40210 to built up the SEPIC converter. Now my question: Are these suitable options, or are there better solutions possible? I think the reason that LM3478 chip was not accepted by webench is that the peak gate driver current only allows 1A, but this is different that the system loading of 1.1A. Don't you think? I have another question. Next to a buck boost converter, a boost converter is needed for the rest of the system to assure a constant loading powered by a battery. Now this boost-converter must be bypassed if the input is >23V but if the battery Vin is lower it should be boosted to 24V again. The system connected to the boost will maximally use 1.5A. Is there something available for this problem? Or should I choose a TPS55340 or LM5155 or something which is better to build the boost with a seperate bypass system using a comparator IC?

Thank you
