TPS1663: Necessity of input capacitor

Hi,

The input capacitor is mentioned in the TPS1663 data sheet as follows. So, could you please tell me that reason why 1uF is required in detail ?

Hello Kato-San,

A 1uF cap on input is recommended to absorb the energy during the transients and limit the voltage at input of TPS1663. The exact value of cap required will be a function of source impedance, load current and transient voltage.
