BQ2946: Dedicate Vdd Design

Part Number: BQ2946

Hi,

I am looking into a bq2946 design. bq2946 datasheet 'Recommended Operating Conditions' specifies Vdd and cell input voltage in different values, would it be safe to use a dedicated source to power Vdd within such conditions? Any changes to Rvd recommended value?

If so bq2946 could work as a simple voltage monitor.

Peiheng.

  • Hi Peiheng,

In our datasheets, we usually specify several values for a pin voltage. First, we have the absolute max, which will damage the device if exceeded. Next, we have the recommend operating condition, which is what we suggest you typically use unless absolutely necessary.

In this case, we generally recommend that VDD stay between 3V and 8V. The pin can go as low as -0.3V and as high as 30V. If the value goes below -0.3V or above 30V, the device will be damaged.

The recommended value for Rvd is between 100 ohms and 1k ohms.

As long as VDD stays in the recommended range, the device should operate correctly.
