UCC28951-Q1: UCC28951-Q1

Part Number: UCC28951-Q1

Hi Team

I am using UCC28951-Q1 for DC-DC application. Is it possible to disable phase shift feature?

  • Hello Suresh

Yes, it's possible to disable the phase shift by setting the device into Voltage Mode Control, tying EA- to COMP and putting a DC voltage at the EA+ pin. The duty cycle will be fixed by the voltage at EA+. 0.85V will give zero duty cycle and 2.85V will give Dmax (approximate values. You will also need to tie the CS pin to GND to prevent the current limit function from modifying the duty cycle.

Please tell me what kind of DC-DC application you are designing because your request is a little unusual and there may be a better solution.

    Regards

    Colin

  • Thank you Colin.

I am building an experimental setup with input of 300V and output of 14V using phase shift toplology for battery charging application. It had previously occured to me whether the controller gives PWM without any phase shift? So I raised a query

  • Hello Suresh

The PSFB is a good choice for 300V to 14V battery charging applications. The UCC28951-Q1 is a good choice of controller too. We do have some hard switched full bridge PWM controllers like the LM3045 but the lack of ZVS will cause significantly higher switching losses than you get with a PSFB.

    Thanks for the clarification.
