TPS7A47-Q1: EMI performance of the device

Part Number: TPS7A47-Q1

Hi All,

I am planning to use this part as a programmable LDO between 1.7-5.5V. (The current that I might draw is approximately 50mA in these operating voltage range) The problem is that the environment in which i am using the has too much EM noise. (Like an EM immunity testing environment) As the pins which i dont use are open, will i get any issues with the output voltage when there is noise which might change the voltage of the pin?

Thanks and Regards,

Nishanth A B

  • Hi Nishanth,

The risk I see in an environment with a high level of EM noise is that the floating ANY-OUT pins could result in noise being coupled onto the negative terminal of the first amplifier node through the internal resistors connected to the ANY-OUT pins. See the block diagram below.  That being said, the output of the first amplifier is used to create the reference for the second amplifier and there is an RC filter created by the internal 100K resistor and the external NR cap. So selecting a higher value NR cap will move the cutoff frequency to a lower frequency and will help filter out high frequency EM noise.
