Dear All,

Maximum & minimum cell balancing current for 76940, 76930 & 76920 part , please share.

As per datasheet, it is showing 5ma, 5ma & 70ma respectively. Please comment.

Hi Rohit,

Yes, the parts have an abs max current as you indicate. The BQ76920 has a lower recommended maximum. There is no minimum balance current.

Hi ,

Thanks for reverting.

Still have some query, what can be done to increase the balancing current of Bq76930 & 40 from 5mA to 200mA around?

Also what is the reason to keep balancing current of Bq76930 & Bq9640 very less than Bq76920 (5mA & 70mA.) ?

Hi Rohit,

Use external balancing for more than 5 mA balance current with BQ76930 and BQ76940. See examples in the http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua749 application note or the EVM or TIDA-00255, TIDA-00449, TIDA-00792.

The input resistors must be large to limit current from the power filter caps and keep the part out of the VSHUT region. See http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua749 architecture description.
