TPS73201-EP: About layout guidelines

Hello,

I have a question about layout guidelines.

Most LDO datasheets shows the layout guideline "TI recommends designing the PCB with separate ground planes for VIN and VOUT, with each ground plane connected only at the GND pin of the".

The first picture is from datasheet layout guideline. the other one is a real project. my question is:

1. do I must follow the guideline in the datasheet?

2. does the real project I showed below(input cap gnd and output cap gnd very close) will works well?

Hey Anders,

The pictures didn't go through, but I have an idea of what you are trying to say

1. It is a guildline that doesn't necessarily need to be followed. I have not done it before and have had no issues, but sometimes the current loops get too large and do cause issues. It is a risk.

2. What you described is often how I do it when not doing it like the guildeline. I would say there is minimal risk.
