TPS704: Turn OFF when the output is shorted

Hi, Team,

Is there any way to turn off the TPS70433 when the output is shorted? We need advise from the circuit point of view. When the customer shorted the output, the device is burned.

I also plan to recommend TPS709 which thermal shutdown have.

Hi Yone-san,

I am assuming you mean the TLV704? If so, unfortunately no. This device does not have thermal shutdown so a prolonged short with a high enough VIN, can damage the device.

What is the input/output voltage and load current requirement? I suspect that the TPS709 is the right recommendation but just want to be sure.

I see... Yes, this is TLV704, not TPS704. Sorry for your confusion...

The customer condition is Vin=12V, Vout=3.3V. Please let me know if you have a recommend low cost device.
