BQ34Z100-G1: Load mode suggestion

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello,

A system has the current profile shows in below graph.

The load includes mostly DC/DC converters and a thermal printer, which have some peaks with a total duration of 300 to 600ms.

Most of the time (99%) the load is constant (~1A). Can we consider this current profile as pulsed loads?

What is the suggested load mode: constant current or constant power?

Taking in consideration, in this application, the battery can be connected and disconnected for the user anytime, which means the BQ34Z100-G1 will reboot and lost register configurations, would be a good decision to set load select equal to 2 (Average Current or Average Current × Voltage)?

Thanks

  • Please use constant current. The reason for this is since the bq34z100-g1 is based on a core that doesn't do simultaneous voltage and current measurements. So, the delta in time with your application may increase error marginally.

A load select of 3 would be better as it would smooth out spikes in current when doing IT simulations. It can give you better accuracy.
