TPS2546: Unexpected auto-wakeup from a USB disk

Part Number: TPS2546

Hi,

Our customer encounter an unexpected auto wake-up issue (S3-->S0) shortly after their laptop has a S0-->S3 transition.  Some details as below,

  • Currently the issue is duplicable with 2 specific models of USB3.0 disk
  • The issue is not duplicable if ILIM_SEL is always low
  • When ILIM_SEL is high, the failed rate is pretty high.
  • S0 mode setting: CTL1/CTL2/CTL3 is "111"
  • S3 mode setting: CTL1/CTL2/CTL3 is "011"

Related waveforms as below.  Please share your in puts why it would wake up unexpectedly.

Normal S0-->S3  (CH1_CTL1 / CH2_VBUS / CH3_DM_IN / CH4_DP_IN)

Normal S3-->S0  (CH1_CTL1 / CH2_VBUS / CH3_DM_IN / CH4_DP_IN)

Abnormal wake-up (S3-->S0) happening immediately after S0-->S3 (CH1_CTL1 / CH2_VBUS / CH3_DM_IN / CH4_DP_IN)

Zoom-in of abnormal auto wake-up (CH1_CTL1 / CH2_VBUS / CH3_DM_IN / CH4_DP_IN)

Zoom-in of abnormal auto wake-up (CH1_CTL1 / CH2_VBUS / CH3_DM_IN / CH4_DP_IN)

THanks
