TPS63031: Average Current Consumption when TPS63031 is enabled ON

Part Number: TPS63031

Hello,

What is the average current consumption of the TPS63031 when the EN pin goes high? Is it higher than the RP604K331A by Ricoh Electronics?

Thank you,

Kyle Wisbrock

  • Hi Kyle,

I assume you are referring to the no-load input current. This depends on mode of operation. For the explanation of power modes refer to section 7.4.4 of the TPS63020 datasheet, the principle is the same in the TPS63031:

    • in power-save mode the no load input current is around 30-40 μA,
    • in forced-PWM mode the no load input current is a around 10 mA (will have to double check this).

RP604 has significantly lower Iq, so I assume the no-load input current is below 1 μA, but this should be verified on the real circuit.

PS. To understand what Iq is and how to translate this to the real current consumption, check this application note:
IQ: What it is, what it isn’t, and how to use it

    Best regards,
    Milos

  • Hello Milos,

Thank you for getting back to me. I will look into this document you have provided me, as well as that datasheet.

    Thank you,

    Kyle

  • Hi Kyle,

We haven’t heard back so we're assuming this resolves your issue. If not, just post a reply below, or create a new thread if the thread has locked due to time-out.

    Thanks and regards,
