TPS63021: TPS63021

Hi Team,

We are using TPS63021DSJT -3.3V regulator in our design.

It is expected to get 3.3V at the output. But, we are getting 3.33V to 3.4V(But Impedance looks fine-6.3K in all the boards). Since it is not an adjustable type regulator, we are not able to tune it.

I request you to provide your inputs on our issue.

I have attached the design of TPS63021DSJT that we have used in our design.

    If PS/SYNC is connected to GND the device operates in power save mode. In power save mode the output voltage is typically 3% higher than the nominal voltage, please refer to section 7.4.4 of the datasheet. In forced PWM mode (PS/SYNC connected to VIN) the output voltage will be within 1% of the nominal voltage, but the efficiency at light loads will be much lower than in power save mode (see Figure 10 vs Figure 11 in the datasheet).

    Is this slightly higher voltage a problem for your application?

    Yes it is important to keep the 3.3V in +/-0.06 range in our design, since we are generating one reference voltage from that using a resistor divider.

  • Hi,

    For TPS63021 FB Pin should be connected to output(having internal divider). In datasheet it is mentioned it can go upto +5%.

    (i.e,) +0.165V -> VCC=3.465V(MAX)

    We have few devices with maximum operating voltage as 3.6V. So, will  TPS53021 give more than 3.465V output by any chance

  • Hi,

    Under normal operation the output voltage will not go higher than 3.465 V. By the way, 5% refers to operation in power-save mode. In forced-PWM mode, the output voltage should be within 1% of the nominal voltage.
