Hi team
My customer use TPS26600PWPR for 48V 2A use case. They found that after added a -2kV surge then it can not give output until restart or re-enable. Also, after surge and restart, the short circuit protection is normal.
Below are the test current waveform when added a surge test and schematic of this case. Mode pin is set to connect with RTN
Can you tell me why does this happen?
Thanks and best regards,
kelly
Hello Kelly,
Is the surge applied on OUT pins or IN Pins or any other pin of TPS2660? What is the source impedance used for this surge test (2 or 42 Ohms or Higher)?
Hi Lokesh,
This surge applied on the OUT pins of the TPS26600, and the source impedance is 42ohm.
Hello Kelly,
During a negative surge the voltage on OUT pins of TPS2660 can go negative and TPS2660 cannot withstand negative voltage on OUT pins. A schottky diode will be required in parallel to TVS on output (TVS5) to limit the negative voltage during surge events.
