TPS1663: reverse current higher than 50mA

Hi team members.

I read in another thread (Title :TPS1663 can tolerant reverce current or not) that the internal diode of TPS1663 can only handle currents below 50mA.

I want to apply a reverse current of 50mA or more, what should I do?

If Schottky diode is connected to the IN and OUT terminals, is it possible to handle a current of 50 mA or more?

Hello,

The current will flow through internal diode when the internal FET is OFF due to a fault like over-voltage, over-current, under voltage or thermal shutdown.

But if the internal FET is ON, higher current (up-to 6A) can flow through internal FET in reverse direction (from OUT to IN).

To provide higher current capability for reverse current (From OUT to IN) when the internal FET is OFF, an external schotky diode can be used from OUT to IN.
