LM5113: lm5113

Part Number: LM5113
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD19538Q2, CSD18543Q3A, CSD

We are developing a product use the LM5113 and EPC2035 FET.  We just had our first boards assembled and were told by the assembly house that the EPC2035 Bump Die is very difficult to assemble and had to be hand assembled.  We have limited space, however we do have enough room to switch to a slightly larger package, such as the SC70, 74, 75, 89 or 96.  Can you recommend FET in one of these packages that will work with the LM5113.  Our maximum voltage is 18V and the maximum current is about 1.5A.

 Thanks,

 Bob

  • Hi Bob,

Thanks for reaching out about LM5113,

GaN FETs have a very low inductance leadless package that requires die level connections for high frequency performance. EPC is the recommended GaN supplier however they come in WCSP packages. If able to use a larger FET with leads then you might be able to trade off some of the high-speed performance and get away with using a 5V logic level CSD FET such as csd19538q2 or csd18543q3a. These FETs should allow easier assembly and more robust operation due to it being a MOSFET while still allowing high speed performance.

Let me know if this helps you find your FET or you need further help and require a specific GaN FET.

    Thanks,

  • I neglected to mention we are running the LM5113 at 4MHz.  Should the  csd19538q2 or csd18543q3a. work OK at 4MHz?

    Thanks,

    Bob

  • Hi Bob,

    Thanks for the follow up,

These FETs can work at 4MHz and much higher. They have a small gate charge similar to GaN FETs as well as a similar Rdson. Let me know if you have any other questions, also let me know if you need a sch review with LM5113 and CSD FET.

    Thanks,
