TPS2546: Why FS device will require 60 seconds in S0 mode, before placing to S3

Part Number: TPS2546

Hi~

According to datasheet, when a FS device is used, TPS2546 requires the device to remain connected for at least 60 seconds while the system is in S0 mode, before placing it in sleep or S3 mode.

Is this requirement due to TPS2546? or it is requirement in USB spec?

Please help to clarify, thanks!

BR,

Tiger

  • Hello Tiger,

The requirement is set by the TPS2546 to help. The internal circuitry uses that 60 second timeframe to determine between a FS and HS device. The reason why this should not be an issue is that it is unlikely for a customer to connect a device to a Type-A port, and then immediately put the system into a sleep state.
