Hi,

I was evaluating BQ2060AEVM-002 NiMH battery charge indicator evaluation board. Suddenly, there was no communication with RS232. While, debugging i came to know that FET Q1 is failed. But this FET is already obsolete in the market. I have contacted TI customer support. But no support from them.

Could some one help for this issue for making this board up. I just need equivalent of SST113 component or if possible other BQ2060AEVM-002 board.

Please let me know, how do i proceed for design as suggested in the BQ2060A application note if there is no protection given.

One replacement you can try for the JFET is the MMBF4393LT1.

These are available on digikey. The following FAQ gives criteria for choosing which types of JFETs to use for this application.

Hi,

I have replaced the JFET as you suggested. I am able to get 3.3V at Pin no 7 of BQ2060A. But i am unable to communicate with BQ2060A. In SBS Data Screen - Static Data Window Manufacturer Name, Device Name & Device Chemistry display as error. Then i replaced BQ2060A , EEPROM, Transistor Q2. But the issue remains same.

I got the BQ2060A samples from TI itself.

My query is, what are the points to be checked in evaluation kit to confirm that BQ chip is working. Can someone help me in this issue. I have noticed that, LEDs are not getting ON even after pressing the switch. LEDs are good.
