TPS61232: NEED TO KNOW OUTPUT CURRENT

Hello iam using TPS61232DRCR in one of my projects.

In the datasheet it shows "3.3-V to 5-V Power Conversion with 2.1-A Output Current". Also datasheet shows "TPS6123x High Efficiency Synchronous Step Up Converters with 5-A Switches". I need to power the raspberry pi with 2.5 A. Is there any issue while using the IC? else Can you suggest me any other solutions?

Hi Janarthanan,

Please use TPS61022 which has higher power capability, lower Rdson, smaller package, higher efficiency.

Thank for ypou response.

I have another one doubt, am using either 5V SMPS or lithium battery(BAT,LI-ION,3.7V,3200mAH,18650) as input to the boost circuit. Is there any problem while using 5V as input to the IC. In datasheet there two referance circuit(section 8.2 & 8.3). which i can use.

Hi Janarthanan,

There is no problem to use 5V Vin. Both section 8.2 and 8.3 circuits would work well.
