LM5025A: 24Vin to isolated 12V 10A solution

Hi,

My customer used a lot of LM5025A for 24Vin 5V isolated output, but recently, they got a new requirement, need to support 12V 10A isolated output. would you please recommend a TI ref design? it is better if LM5025A or similar p2p part can do this. thanks.

Hi Yue,

The UCC2897a is another active clamp forward controller and it appears to have many more reference designs one of which is 12v/10A design.

I cant find a 12V, 10A design for the LM5025.

Hello Yue Tang,

The UCC2897A is a similar part to the LM5025A

PMP8861 reference design is an 18-72VDC Input, 12V/120W Active Clamp Forward Reference Design.

Thanks for the recommendation. seems like the PMP8861 used two transformer. if not considering P2P to LM5025A , is there a more simpler ref design you can recommend? My customer is not that good at power design. A mature and widely used solution would be great. thanks.

Hello Yue Tang,

The second transformer used is an off the shelf current transformer from Coilcraft.

If the customer has limited knowledge of magnetic design then they can ask their magnetics supplier to manufacture an equivalent part or supply the Coilcraft part.
I think that is the best and easiest solution.

The PMP4468 is a 30W 5V out design.
You will need to make big changes to the magnetics and power components to modify this for a 12V 6A output.
