TPS2121: Is the mosfet current flow bi-direction?

Part Number: TPS2121

Hi,

Customer product using two battery pack to provide device power. When one battery pack SOC is empty then switch to another one.

Because the battery need charge and discharge ,the mosfet have two direction current flow. Is TPS2121 suit for this application?

Hi,

This device does not allow for bidirectional current flow.

Hi Jeff,

Unfortunately, we do not have one integrated solution that can power mux like the TPS2121 and also perform bidirectional current flow.

It is possible to use two eFuses to build a bidirectional power switch. Here is an App Note that describes this: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva948/slva948.pdf

It is also possible to power MUX with eFuses as shown here: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva811a/slva811a.pdf

I have not seen an implementation that combines the two concepts effectively beforehand and would not recommend it since I think it would required 4 eFuses.
