Dear sir,

Referring to your document SLLA411-JULY 2018 i.e voltage and current measurement of HEV and EV batteries upto 400v, can you please clarify the ADC and amplifier part number in figure 1?

Is this block confined to only one cell. Because in the matter above you mentioned battery voltage upto 400V.

Hi Manoj,

Thank you for posting this question! Figure 1 of this App Report shows a block diagram with generic individual blocks, which means part numbers can be determined on a case-by-case basis of system requirements. Would you like information on selecting an amplifier and ADC or on some particular devices?

Regarding the cells, this design is not restricted to a single cell: the note about 400V batteries is only to give context on the voltage levels inside of vehicles today. Actual voltages could be lower or higher.

As far as ADCs for this application I would recommend the following:

For current sensing: ADS1120-Q1

For voltage sensing: ADS7950-Q1

Thank you so much Dan for your such a relevant reply. It seems very useful. I have gone through this link http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-01513 and I want order this board. But the option "Order now " is inactive. How shall I order this. Also please tell me about the calculation of shunt resistance in terms of resistance and wattage. Also in the document TIDA-01513 please tell me what are VBatt, ISO_POS and ISO_NEG, where it should be connected

Hi Manoj,

That board is not available for ordering. However, the BOM, schematic, and PCB layout files are all freely available on the TI Design page so you can fabricate your own board.

The author of this TI Design is out of office for the moment so I am not able to answer your other questions right now. It may take a while for the author to get back to me (perhaps up to a week). Sincere apologies for the delay. I'm working on finding if there is another expert available to answer these questions in the meantime. I'll update you by Thursday, September 12.

As mentioned by Dan, unfortunately TIDA-01513 is not an order-able. Design files and test data are shared to support isolation measurements with TI components.
