BQ24195L: BQ24195L force detection launch time

Part Number: BQ24195L

Hello,

As part of my project code, on initialization I am forcing the Charger IC chip to detect the source of input by setting high the 7 bit of the REG07. (regardless of DC source presence)

However the detection flag stays on for an unknown duration for every time we reset the microcontroller while there is no DC source detected.

Do you have any idea if the detection period or process is pre-fixed when it is forced ?

Regards,

Elie W

  • Elie,

Please refer to 8.3.1.3.4 D+/D– Detection Sets Input Current Limit on the d/s for the details.

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • hello again,

I have carefully read this section over and over, and i was expecting the detection to be finished within max 0.5s (+- 20% safety factor) , but when i m forcing the detection, it is taking too much time ( between 0.5 s and over a minute).

    Anyway thank you!

    Elie

  • Elie,

0.5s is only part of DCD (Data Contact Detection). After DCD, PD (primary detection) is used to distinguish between USB host (Standard Down Stream Port, or SDP) and different type of charging ports (Charging Down Stream Port, or CDP, and Dedicated Charging Port, or DCP).

    Thanks,

    Ning.
