LMZ31707: Disabling the output

Hi,

I have a board with the LMZ31707 installed, I need to perform a test with a different voltage source with the same voltage, other than removing the part from the board, can I just disable it by connecting INH/UVLO to ground and connect an external voltage source to the VOUT rail?

Hi SB,

To disable the part, you can apply a low voltage to the INH pin assuming you are using a open drain/collector device or logic gate to drive the pin. When a low voltage is applied, the INH/UVLO pin will short to ground and the output of the supply will be disabled. Please refer to Section 9.17 and Figure 27 for more details.

Hi Jimmy,

Is it save to connect an external voltage source to the VOUT pins after the part is disabled? Just want to be sure the part will not be damaged.

Hi SB,

To be safe I would put a reverse current diode to block current from flowing back into the VOUT pin of the power module.
