Suggestion for powering USB pendrive

Hi Team

We are making one  board where we have to plug in USB pen drive. Max power  source  available  on my board  is  5V (adapter +-10%) .

1)Can i directly connect 5V with Vbus  to power pen drive ?

2)  How  i can  ensure  that i should never source  more than 500mA (  in case  of  short  circuit  or  something else )

3) Can you let me know  if any solution is  available so that i can limit current still provide  power to pen drive from 5 V.

  • Hi,

You can use the power switch with adjusted current limit function.

It is better to draw a block diagram for me for better understanding of your set up.

Will first click resolved button for TI’s policy.

If any, contact me any time or send email to a0224015@ti.com

    Thanks.
