LM66100: ORing with a Discrete MOSFET

Hello,

My customer is looking to implement the "ORing with a discrete MOSFET" like what is shown in Figure 20 of the datasheet (link). They would like to know what the current drive strength of the ST pin is. Neither the Electrical Characteristics section or the Recommended Operating Conditions table have any information regarding this.

Hi John,

I'm not sure what your customer means by "current drive strength" as this is a open drain pin on the device. When OR-ing with a discrete MOSFET, and in the situation where the MOSFET is ON then the ST pin will be puled low (we assume a discrete PFET is used here).

The maximum current that the ST pin can sink is 1mA (please refer to the absolute maximum ratings on the datasheet) and this current should be limited by the pull-up resistor.

That was what I was looking for, thanks! Sorry I missed the spec in the ABS MAX table. We need to limit the current sunk by the pin to 1mA or less.
