TPS2491: Inquiry about Input Bypass Capacitor( 8.1.2.6 Input Bypass)

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TPS2491 and has an inquiry.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

According to the datasheet P.18, Cin is recommended.

But I'd rather not set input bypass capacitor because inrush current appear.

Is the input bypass capacitor necessary?

If necessary, what is the recommended capacitor value.

In the 8.2.2.7 Choose R5 and Cin, Cin is recommended in the range of 0.001uF to 0.1uF.

This is a design example , is it possible to think in all cases.

Hi Shinichi,

We recommend to use 10nF to 1nF for hot-swap applications.

Is it still a concern for your use case?

I understand Cin is recommended 1nF to 10nF for hot-swap applications.

The customer is concerning about rush current by input capacitor.

I'll share Cin is the range of 1nF to 10nF with the customer and check whether acceptable or not.
