BQ24092: Temperature fault

Hi,

We are using BQ24092 in one of the consumer product to charge a single cell Li-ion battery. In the product we have connected a bi-color LED to the nPG and nCHG pins, a temperature sensor on the TS pin (10K NTC). When the battery is charging both the LED's are ON and working normally, but when there is battery temperature fault the LED indication for charge complete/charging are same. With this how we can differentiate whether the charging is completed or there is a battery temperature fault through LED's.

We need both the LED's to be OFF when there is battery temperature fault (Similar to OV/UV fault condition).

The BQ24092 /CHG pin is similar to the BQ24040 /CHG pin, design reuse. See FAQ post

As mentioned, BQ24092 /CHG pin is not optimized for indicating a temperature fault.

The BQ2408X family of devices has additional output that will provide more fault and operating condition indication with STAT1 and STAT2 pins. Several versions of the device are available with different fault outputs and control inputs. Two devices that may work are the BQ24081 and BQ24086.
