BQ76930: BQ76930 UV release

Part Number: BQ76930

Hi

BQ76930 set the under voltage protection is 2.9v. Discharge the battery pack when the cell voltage is close to 2.9v, DMOS before the undervoltage protection with a 400-millisecond turn off, then turn on, and then went into UV protection and DMOS turn off.

The ALERT pin of BQ76930 is not linked to the MCU but is connected to a 510K resistor.

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

  • Hi Star,

The BQ76930 will set the UV condition when the voltages are below the UV threshold as described in the data sheet.  The UV condition will set ALERT and turn off the DSG output if on.  The BQ76930 does not turn on FETs by itself, the turn on must be accomplished by writes from the MCU to clear the UV fault and enable DSG.  The BQ76930 does not have a UV hysteresis, that would need to be accomplished by the MCU if desired.  If the cell voltages are still below the UV threshold when the clear and DSG_ON is sent, the DSG will turn on until the delay is evaluated and the UV fault sets again.

In the waveform shown perhaps the voltages recovered slightly when DSG was turned off so that the MCU turned the FET on again, or perhaps the MCU cleared the fault and re-enabled the DSG.
