EV2400: Communication- SMBUS

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, BQ4050,

Hello,

As i mentioned in my previous question, I try to work with bq4050 through bqstudio GUI, and EV2400.

Sometimes i loose communication, and the LEDS on the EV2400 turns off. Than i need to disconnect the usb, and reconnect it again, to establish the communication.

that is  one of problems that i have using this setup.

Is there some drivers that have to be installed on the PC or some update for EV2400 that i have to perform?

By the way, when i use the same setup on bq4050evm, the communication runs ok. But the schematic (and SMBUS layout) of my board  is the same as the EVM. so i dont understand what is wrong...

Thanks,

Arkadi

  • Hi Arkadi,

In BQStudio, there is a Dashboard on the left side of the screen that will show which version of the EV2400 firmware is running. I recommend updating to the latest version (v0.28) which is available here: http://www.ti.com/tool/EV2400  (scroll down until you see the link to the EV2400 Firmware Updater in the Software section.

Here are the steps to update:

    1. Make sure all versions of bqStudio are closed and that the EV2400 is connected via USB to the PC

    2. Run the updater by double clicking on it.

    3. Type 'Y' in the prompt and press the 'ENTER' key, as shown in Fig. 3.

    4. Press the 'enter' key again to close.

    I hope this helps,

    Matt
