LM5155: LM5155 low input

Part Number: LM5155

Hi team,

i would like to know whether LM5155 can be used in below applicaiton? If not, any more suggessed solution? Thanks.

  1. input 2.8V-4.4V(1s battery)
  2. output 50W (Vout>=6V), can be 10V5A or 8V6A or 7V7A

  • Hi Hollis,

    1. According to the datasheet the min input voltage to startup is 2.97V.  Your 2.8V is lower this min requirement, so it is not guaranteed to support your use case.

    2. load current >5A may have excessive thermal issues on the output diode. You should consider a synchronous boost like the LM25122. However it requires 4.5V to startup.  You can use a small boost converter like our TPS61xxx to produce a bias supply of 5V and feed into the VCC of the LM25122 to assist the starting up.

    Please contact Jasper Li in our Shanghai office to get a good choice of the TPS61xxx part for this purpose.

    Best Regards,
