UCC28220-Q1: interleaved boost converter

Part Number: UCC28220-Q1

Hello there,

I am using UCC28220-q1 for interleaved boost converter. I am having problem with current sensing as I am getting noise at the secondary of current transformer even after using low pass filter. Please suggest me proven methods of sensing current using current transformer !  Below is the kind of circuit I am using for current sesnsing ! Please suggest the changes !

Thanks and regards,

Akshay

  • Hello Akshay,

In general, it is recommended to do the following: the trace between the current sense pin of the controller and the active node of your filter is a very critical path.

    1. Keep the traces as short as possible in length and width to avoid any capacitive coupling.
    2. This trace should not be over a high voltage or high switching trace.
    3. Place the Resistance and capacitance of the filter extremely close to the pin of the controller.
    4. Make sure that the GND connections are placed filter near caps, resistors and the controller, this will minimize the unfiltered track length.
    5. Maximize the separation between the source and current sense transformer to minimize the stray capacitance.

May I recommend you to go through this training material to enable yourself to understand the layout techniques better.

It would be interesting to see the voltage on the CS1 and CS2 pins. Can you share your PCB file to better understand the layout of your board?

  • Hi Sonal,

Thanks a lot !  Well I am currently working on general purpose board, PCB is in design procedure. Hence,I am getting lot of problems with sensing especially current sensing !

    Thanks and regards,
