LM5030: Spread Spectrum Sync

Part Number: LM5030

Is there any issue with providing a spreadspectrum pulse for synchronizing the LM5030 (using a properly sized cap injection circuit)/

Example - 800kHz input with 10% spread spectrum  modulation

  • Hi Steve,

LM5030 has a up to a 1-MHz capable single-resistor adjustable oscillator. And it can also be synchronized to an external clock. The external clock must be of higher frequency than the free running frequency set by the RT resistor.

In my opinion, LM5030 can operate with the synchronization signal of 800kHz with 10% spread spectrum  modulation, when the oscillator frequency should be set to lower than 800 * 90% =720 kHz.

    Regards,

    Teng
