UCC28951-Q1: Using DC blocking capacitor in CV Mode of operation for battery charging using UCC28951

Dear sir/Ma'am,

We are not sure if we should add a capacitor as shown in the image while using the converter in VMC mode or PCM mode to ensure no saturation in transformer. Didn't find a mention of the same in the datasheet. Please suggest. If yes, how do we do the sizing of this capacitor?

Hi Shyama,

I am so pleased hear from you.

For PCM mode, the isolate DC cap is unnecessary. I recommend choose PCM mode.

For VCM mode, I think the best way is keeping the isolate DC cap in your circuit. you can select the size according to you current and voltage.

Dear Bliss,

While charging an EV battery, we have two modes; Constant Current (CC) and Constant Voltage (CV) mode. Do you suggest I use PCM mode for both CC CV mode of charging? The following is a file suggesting how to achieve CC-CV mode but doesn't mention whether to use PCM or VMC.
